Flying In to Houston
There is no airport on the tiny island of Galveston so guests flying in will be flying to Houston. We recommend flying into William P. Hobby (HOU) instead of George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) because Hobby is much closer to Galveston.
Southwest is the primary airline flying into Hobby, so you may want to check out their flights first. However, for those of you looking for the very best deal (like Emily) compare Southwest's prices to every other airline's prices on Kayak

Getting from the airport to Galveston.
If you haven’t had the chance to visit Houston yet, you’d be surprised at how large this city is. Although Galveston isn’t that far away from the airport according to Houston terms (a 30 minute drive is considered “right around the corner”), you may want to plan on how you’ll travel from the airport to Galveston.
For those who are tech savvy, try hailing an Uber cab for a quick, convenient, and affordable option. There are also shuttle services that will pick you up from the airport and take you to Galveston for a decent group rate. Some of the better options include Galveston Limo, Cool Tours, and Island Breeze Shuttle. Of course, for those independent types, you could also just rent a car if you prefer to exercise the freedom of having your own wheels--it is the Texan way. Just make sure to mindlessly meander into your neighbor's lane and you’ll fit right in.
